Today she ran into an old friend. It was the voice of shame and regret. The voice called to her, waving from the crosswalk of her past. She knows the voice is a liar—seeking only to lure her back to the pit of despair. Why would she listen? Why would she turn around? She has seen the goodness of God and walked in the joy of her salvation. She has seen prayers answered and the hand of the Lord move in a mighty way. She has seen the beauty of a life surrendered to Christ and the peace that comes with obedience to His will. There is One friend who will never disappoint. One friend who guards her heart and stills her mind. It’s His voice she will heed. Shame and regret, be gone! Her Lord has made all things new.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
