KNOWING YOUR STRENGTH

KNOWING YOUR STRENGTH

by Kim Y Nowlin

In the Wonder Woman movie, Antiope is the Amazon Army General and aunt to Diana, (Wonder Woman). Antiope is fierce, she is fearless, and she is a spectacular warrior.

While Antiope is teaching a younger Diana how to fight, the two enter a sparring match. When General Antiope exposes the gaps in her student’s sparing skills, she tells Diana, “You are stronger than this, Diana!”

That is the truth I believe the Lord wants you to hear today. It is the same truth the enemy of your soul wants to hide from you.

Your enemy would have you believe you are weak, and your prayers ineffectual. He would have you believe your trust in God is misplaced and your spiritual footprint is nonexistent. He would have you believe he is arm-wrestling God right now to determine who gets to be in charge of your life. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Whatever you are facing, whatever battle you are in, whatever situation is pulling you under, whatever skirmish is demanding your surrender, whatever lies the enemy is screaming in your ears, you can know beyond a shadow of doubt – you are stronger than this. How can you know? Because Jesus Christ LIVES within every child of God and nothing is greater than His power and His might. (Galatians 2:20) He proved His strength when He surrendered Himself to the cross, conquering death and the grave to become the perfect sacrifice–once and for all eternity.

The enemy fears that if you ever truly realized the power that resides within you through the Lord Jesus Christ, you would be like General Antiope—fierce and fearless in battle.

  • “O Lord God of our fathers, are You not God in heaven, and do You not rule over all the kingdoms of the nations, and in Your hand is there not power and might, so that no one is able to withstand You? (2 Chronicles 20:6)

  • “For who is God, except the Lord? And who is a rock, except our God? God is my strength and power, And He makes my way perfect. (2 Samuel 22:32-33)

  • …For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me? (Hebrews 13:5-6)_

Jesus Christ is not fearful. He is not cowering. He is not confused. He is the Son of God and your Savior. He speaks … demons tremble. He commands … creation bows. He is the righteous and fearless Lion from the tribe of Judah.

Hardships will come, but you have the Spirit of He who overcame living within you. Place your trust in Him, and whatever situation you are facing in life, you can say with confidence, “Because of HIM … I am stronger than this.”
