One cord at a time … the cares of the world wrap about her—strangling her joy, peace, and presence of mind. Instead of keeping her focus on Jesus, she turns herself in circles and inside out, trying to solve the next crisis or nagging issue. Satan knows he can’t steal her heart, so he seeks to burden her soul. Today, she will cut away his tentacles. She will untangle herself from his web. And, she will remind herself to rise above the clatter and clang of this world and walk in the gentle leading of the spirit. This temporary world cannot hold her hostage. She is seated in heavenly places with her King.
Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity. But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience. (Luke 8:14-15)
